Driver’s Licence Renewal
Typically, your Driver’s Licence expires on your birthday every five years. To renew, bring your Driver’s Licence and another piece of valid identification when you come into Southland Registrations’ office. If your Driver’s Licence is expired, please bring your Birth Certificate, valid Canadian Passport, Canadian Citizenship, valid Permanent Resident card, or your Foreign Passport and VISA (work, study, visitor.)
A new picture must be taken if your previous picture is more than four years old.
You may keep your old Driver’s Licence as identification while you wait for the new card to arrive in the mail. Once the new Drivers Licence has arrived, destroy the old Driver’s Licence card and the temporary as it is an offence to be in possession of more than one Driver’s Licence at any given time.
If renewing a Class 1, Class 2 or Class 4 Driver’s Licence or if you have a pre-existing medical condition, you may be required to submit extra documentation such as a medical examination form or visual referral.
If you have any questions about these requirements or have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 403-255-3653. We would be happy to clarify any questions you might have.
