Copy of Documents
You can order a copy of a document pertaining to a specific land title from Southland Registrations.
Documents are delivered as a photocopy of the original document. These include copies of easements, utility right of ways, caveats, mortgages and other instruments. The registration number must be provided. Please come into the Southland Registrations office to order such documents.
Current titles identify the current owner and will show all outstanding registered interests in the land.
Such interests include mortgages, caveats, easements and builders’ liens. To obtain a title search you must provide the legal description which consists of a plan, block and lot. Land Identification Number Code (LINC number), title number, or the meridian, range, township, section and quarter can also be used for the property you want to search.
A search by municipal address can also be used but at an extra cost. Please come into the Southland Registrations office to obtain a land title.
If you want to know who owned the property before the current owners, you can order a historical title search from Southland Registrations.
Several types of information may be required to locate a historical title such a reference title number, owner’s name, and legal land description. Most historical titles are available and can be obtained immediately, while some are on microfilm, or microfiche, depending on when the titles were cancelled.
This may take some time as we would have to order the historical title for you. Please come into the Southland Registrations office to order a historical title.
